HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

  • Drywall, ceilings, flooring, and insulation are easily replaceable, but your structural integrity may be at risk if kitchen fires harm the roof trusses and frame. The resulting fire damage will need to be cleaned up, and a structural damage inspection will need to be done by a fire restoration specialist.

Even if the fire only damaged a portion of your home, smoke particles will likely spread throughout the structure. If you discovered the fire quickly, the best possible outcome would still require thoroughly cleaning the entire house and applying odor-neutralizing solutions. The heat from the fire likely sent the smoke into every nook and cranny of your home or business.

  • To stop additional damage from the weather and vandalism, the property must be boarded up if it is uninhabitable. If you have to remain in a temporary place, be sure to keep track of the living expenditure receipts since your insurance company should compensate you.

  • Water damage caused by firefighters is a relatively frequent outcome of a building fire. Most of your home will likely be flooded once a fire is put out since hundreds of gallons of water are typically utilized. Sprinklers can also saturate other building areas, causing more water damage if the problem is not addressed at once.

Also, if your home is not dried off soon enough, mold may develop. LCR PDX will clean the property immediately, and industrial-grade fans should be installed to begin drying. To prevent secondary damage, mitigation and cleaning must be completed before rebuilding.

  • Following any fire, it is advised to file an insurance claim since the subsequent damages, in addition to the above-mentioned living expenses, will be costly to repair. We recommend calling in the experts as soon as possible to estimate the extent of repairs because the procedure might take several weeks.

  • Once the claim has been processed, the property owner—whether you, the mortgage holder or another owner—will get a check for the sum necessary to restore it to its pre-loss state.
